Open Invitation, Art Exhibition – Connecting Rods

Open Invitation, Art Exhibition – Connecting Rods: A Survey of Industry in the Niagara Region

I would like to invite you to my upcoming exhibition, Connecting Rods: A Survey of Industry in the Niagara Region, opening July 22nd in Downtown St. Catharines.

I have been documenting the slow demolition of 285 Ontario Street since 2015. The former factory was a driving force of the Niagara economy for over 100 years. It now sits a shell – stuck in limbo between its past and its future.

Through images, archival materials, interviews, and reflections, I explore the history of and familial connections to the location, and how the changing uses of the site have reverberated in the community.

The Opening Reception is Friday July 22, 5 pm to 9 pm.

The Exhibition Runs Saturday July 23, 11 am to 8 pm; Sunday July 24, 11 am to 6 pm.
146 James Street, St. Catharines

Limited free parking is available onsite; the exhibition is free entry and appropriate for all ages.

The exhibition is part of the In the Soil Summer Series, Presented by Suitcase in Point. More information can be found here:

Please note that the venue is not wheelchair or ramp accessible. If you require accessibility accommodations, please contact me and arrangements to view the work will be made.

All the best and hope to see you there,
Julianna D’Intino
