Health Care Town Hall Meeting – November 21, 2023

The Ontario Regional Council is holding townhall meetings across Ontario. On November 21st, 2023, a Healthcare Townhall will be held at Unifor Local 199’s Union Hall, as part of the Stop Health Care Privatization campaign, with the objective of having productive discussions about the impacts of health care privatization and the campaign to protect our public health care system.

Unifor Local 199 is inviting its members, both active and retired, to participate, as well as extending the invitation to other Unifor Local’s in the area.

This town hall meeting will be roughly 1 hour in length (6:30-7:30pm) and refreshments will be provided for attendees.

The public healthcare system was established with an ideal that every man, woman and child, regardless of race, religion or financial status, would be able to access heath care. Privatization will lead to those who have the means to pay receiving the best care, the best physicians, and access to the best hospitals. And those who do not have the means will be left to accept what is left over. If you want a two-tiered healthcare system, just continue the way we are heading.

Tommy Douglas, the Champion of Canadian public healthcare, once said: “I came to believe that health services ought not to have a price tag on them, and that people should be able to get whatever health services they require irrespective of their individual capacity to pay.”

Now, more than ever, we must fight for the ideals of public healthcare.

Please join us November 21st, 2023 at 6:30pm as we continue to rally to protect Ontario’s public healthcare system.

Thank you.

In solidarity,
Jordan Lennox, President Local 199
