ONLINE EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY

Looking for something to do this winter? Are you interested in learning about what’s going on in the world around you? Unifor and McMaster University are offering free online educational courses to our members who work for General Motors, Ford and FCA.

Members can use the ZOOM platform to participate from the comfort of their own home and will receive credits towards a McMaster Labour Studies Certificate, upon completion the certificate will give you a 6 month credit towards a degree.

With Covid-19 social distancing rules there has never been a better time to sign up for an online course.  There is no cost to our members who attend, all course fees are covered by Unifor.

The New U.S Presidential Administration: What Does it mean for Canadian Manufacturing? The U.S. is transitioning to a new government. How will tariffs and trade policies change between Canada and the U.S. be affected? Will this be a more protectionist government who implement a “Buy America” policy? How will Canadian Manufacturing and our jobs be affected? (1 Monday evening) Monday March 1st 2021 (5:30 -8:30pm)

This 4-evening course will look at issues such as the Green New Deal, Guaranteed Basic Income and a Living wage. (4 Thursday evenings) February 4th, 11th, March 4th & 11th 2021 (5:30 -8:30pm)

What key issues have production workers faced historically and today. How have companies organized workplaces in ways that can harm us?  How have workers dealt with this in the past? (4 Wednesday evenings)

The Doug Ford Government: What is their Environmental Policy?

 

Since stepping into power in 2018, the Ford Government has launched a number of attacks on environmental protections to pave the way for development across the province, undercutting the Endangered Species Act and the Environmental Assessment Act. (2 Monday evenings)
