To all members,
With summer weather officially here, it’s important to consider the impact heat has on workers. Every day, millions of workers are exposed to high levels of heat in their workplaces and this exposure can be a matter of life and death. Even though illness from exposure to heat is preventable, every year, thousands become sick from occupational heat stress, and in some cases, die from this exposure.
The Unifor Health and Safety Department has written a fact sheet on heat stress, including prevention methods, employer responsibilities, signs, symptoms and first aid treatment.
Please review the fact sheet, share it with other members and look out for each other this summer
In solidarity,
Jerry Dias
