We are pleased to announce that our 2nd Biennial Unifor Pride Conference will take place at our Unifor Family Education Centre in Port Elgin from May 12-14, 2017.
Conference delegates will have the opportunity to hear about some of the tremendous work being done within our union, our communities and internationally. Delegates will join with other LGBT members and allies in workshops and plenaries to exchange ideas and develop strategies for working towards equality.
We know that the theme of this conference, the Politics of Pride, is played out on our shop floors, in our offices and at festivals and community events in every region. This conference will give participants the skills and knowledge to organize strong LGBT networks and advocate for transgender rights in the workplace. First time delegates in particular will be introduced to Unifor’s supportive, and growing, LGBT activist community.
Every local union is encouraged to send their full complement of delegates. Our union’s commitment to equality can only be met with the total participation and involvement of our leadership and activists. Please encourage your LGBT activists, local union leadership, human rights, women and equity representatives/activists to participate in this conference. In addition, please make every effort to involve young people and Aboriginal/Workers of Colour in your delegation.
The conference and workshops will be bilingual and as always this conference fills up quickly please submit your registrations early to avoid disappointment.
Please contact Kellie Scanlan @ 1-800-268-5763 ext. 8445 or email kellie.scanlan@unifor.org if you require additional information. As always we are looking forward to a great conference.
