President
It is important that the President has a strong working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, labour laws, and twenty-four Collective Agreements. It is also the Presidents responsibility to enforce the Unifor National Constitution and Local 199 By-laws. The President is also responsible for bargaining contracts, arbitration and conciliation. The President must work with the local unit Chairpeople and the National Staff Representatives.
The President presides over monthly Executive Board meetings and monthly General Membership meetings. A clear understanding of the procedural requirements for these meetings is important. They also participate in the Unifor Canadian Constitution Convention, Ontario Regional Council, Independent Parts Supplier Council, and Health Care Council.
This position also assists with local organizing initiatives, supporting the National Organizing Department.
Jordan Lennox
Jordan Lennox, represents the membership as President of Local 199. He is an Ontario Council Delegate, Unifor Constitutional Delegate and has served on multiple Standing Committees, including the Communications Committee. He was also the architect behind the #InvestGMStCatharines Campaign, launched during the 2020 GM Negotiations. Jordan previously served the membership as Young Worker on the Local 199 Executive Board, Alternate General Motors Pension Representative, Local 199 Vice-President, General Motors Pension Representative, and a General Motors Union Awareness Trainer.
