Labour Day Parade 2017
On behalf of the Executive Board of Unifor Local 199 I would like to thank all the volunteers who made Labour Day 2017 such a success. Our members & retirees lined the streets of Merritton, drove cars, walked the parade route, cooked burgers, handed out ice cream and sold raffle tickets. This year’s parade was one of the best I can recall, great weather, good participation in both the parade and at the BBQ. We could not run this event without the volunteers, thank you all for your contribution.
Back at the Union Hall, Marty Allen and the Cadillac Cowboys rocked on the patio. Kids frolicked in the inflatables and were treated to free ice cream. A special thank you to the City of St Cathariens for supplying a city bus for our retirees, the Retiree Chapter for running the bar, thanks to all our Niagara car dealerships; Niagara Motors, John Bear, Brian Cullen’s, David Chev, & Ed Learn Ford for providing vehicles for the parade.
At the end of the day, Marty Allen drew three winning tickets for the Labour Day Draw. The winners were; Riley Scott from GM who won the iWatch donated by FirstOntario, Sue McReady a retiree won the sports and entertainment basket, and Crystal Hoare from FirstOntario won $199. The big winner was The Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara who will receive a $1,730 dollar donation in Bob White’s memory.
Lawrence Robson & Mike Chandler have posted some pictures at the following link . Pictures from Labour Day
Next month we will be forming a committee to plan next year’s parade any member who is interested in helping out, has ideas or just wants to participate next year, please contact me.
In Solidarity,
Greg Brady, President Unifor Local 199
