Knights Facility Management Members Ratify New Collective Bargaining Agreement!

On Sunday November 10th, the membership of Knights Facility Management ratified their new collective agreement. This agreement provides the largest gains that this unit has ever secured, including:

  • Wages: Year 1 – $3.00, Year 2 – $1.25, Year 3 – $1.75 (A total of 27.6% increase for Janitors and 26.9% for Labourers)
  • Overtime language – If a member is legitimately missed for overtime, they will automatically be paid for half the shift
  • Increased shift premiums
  • Family Day and Truth and Reconciliation
  • Increased bereavement leave coverage for Step-Children and Step-Siblings
  • Sick Day language, including 8 protected sick days with 2 paid
  • Registered Retirement Savings Plan with Company Match up to 4%
  • $1.00 per hour Training Premium
  • Insurance Card for direct billing of Prescription Drugs
  • Women’s Advocate, with Company paid training
  • $750 signing bonus

These gains were hard fought, and the Bargaining Committee of Richard Judd and Derek Mitchell should be recognized for their hard work and dedication to the membership. This contract reflects the needed gains of the membership, and we would like to thank them for their support during this round of negotiations.
