Early reporting over the holidays (E.I. Report Update)

If you have a reporting period ending December 19, 2020, you can complete your report early. This helps ensure that you can receive your payments without delay during the 2020 to 2021 winter holiday season.

  • Clients who live in Ontario and Western Canada will be able to report on Monday, December 14 after 7:00 pm
  • Clients who live in Quebec and Atlantic Canada will be able to report on Tuesday, December 15 after 7:00 pm (7:30 pm in Newfoundland & Labrador)

Clients who report electronically will be notified of the early reporting dates via the Telephone Reporting Service and the Internet Reporting Service.

Once you complete your early report, if there is a change to the information you provided, contact Service Canada.

Direct deposit dates

Due to statutory holidays, the direct deposit dates for the 2020 to 2021 winter holiday season may vary.

If you complete your report on:

  • December 14, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 16
  • December 15, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 17
  • December 16, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 18
  • December 17, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 21
  • December 18, 19 or 20, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 22
  • December 21, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 23
  • December 22, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 24
  • December 23, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 29
  • December 24, 25, 26, 27 or 28, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 30
  • December 29, your direct deposit is scheduled for December 31
  • December 30, your direct deposit is scheduled for January 4
  • December 31 or January 1, 2 or 3, your direct deposit is scheduled for January 5

To receive EI benefits, you MUST complete and submit reports that cover the week(s) you are being asked.

Select > English
Click > Employment Insurance
In right hand column under MOST REQUESTED, click >Send your report by internet.
Scroll to THE BOTTOM of the page and click > Continue

Enter the following information:

  1. Social Insurance Number
  2. Access Code
  3. Province of Residence

Click > Continue
