REPORT FOR (E.I.)

Start REPORTING – Friday, 3rd, April at 8 am

Members of Unifor Local 199 who have already applied for E.I. Benefits and have received an access code in the mail can start reporting on Friday 3rd of April after 8 am.

To maintain a social distance we are asking members to report from their home computer or phone.  If you need assistance call the Union Hall or Service Canada.

Before you start, make sure you have your Access Code and Social Insurance Number, you will need that information to do your report.

  • Click on the link at the end of these instructions.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page click on CONTINUE
  • Enter your (Social Insurance Number)
  • Enter your (Access Code)
  • Select your Province of Residence, from the list of Provinces and Click CONTINUE

Address and Direct Deposit

Have you moved, changed your mailing address or changed the banking information you provided for Direct Deposit purposes?

You will be asked five YES or NO questions.  Make sure you read the questions carefully before you answer, you may be asked for more information depending on your answers. Once you have answered the question you will be shown your answer and asked to click on I accept.

QUESTIONS

  1. Were you outside Canada between Monday and Friday during the period of this report?
  2. Are you self-employed?
  3. Did you work or receive any earnings during the period of this report? This includes work for which you will be paid later, unpaid work, self-employment including farming.
  4. Did you attend school or a training course during the period of this report?
  5. Were you ready, willing and capable of working each day, Monday through Friday during each week of this report?
  6. Is there any other money that you have not previously told us about, that you received or will receive for the period of this report?

The report will give you a date and time for your next report which will be in one or two weeks, mark this date on your calendar.

  • You might want to print off the EI REPORTING CALENDAR  to track the dates you have reported.

Can I do my EI Report by Telephone?

Yes,  If you do not have access to the Internet, you can use the EI Telephone Reporting Service. It is available throughout Canada and can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  You need the access code and your Social Insurance Number (SIN) to submit reports and to get information about your claim.

Follow these steps to complete your report by telephone:

  1. dial 1-800-531-7555
  2. enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and access code
  3. select option 1 to file your EI report
  4. follow the instructions to complete your report. The system will ask you to confirm your answer to each question
  5. hang up when you hear: “You have successfully input your report.” The system will also tell you when you can input your next report. Mark this date on your calendar

To try a telephone reporting demonstration, call 1-800-531-7555 and select option 3.

If Service Canada needs more information about your report, your call will be transferred. If you call before or after business hours, you will hear a message asking you to call back during business hours.
