GM CHAIR UPDATE – Ongoing Layoffs Due to Semi-Conductor Shortage

August 3rd, 2021

Today the Company informed the Union that they will be adjusting their production schedules at multiple customer sites that we supply. The impacted areas of the plants will be as follows:

  • V8 will only run one shift during the week of August 9 – 13
  • HFV6 will be laid off for the week of August 9 – 13
  • GF6 will be laid off through the week of August 30th (tentative return date of September 6th)

Members who will be impacted will be communicated with by management.

As I am sure you are all aware, the semi-conductor issue has created worldwide shortages. I continue to work with the Company to mitigate the impact felt here at our plant. It continues to be difficult as the semiconductor issue drags on and fails to resolve itself.

Please stay healthy and safe during this downtime.
