Sisters and Brothers,
In November of 2022, the new Standing Committee term commenced and at that time, we saw a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. However, since then we haven’t seen or heard much from several of the committees.
To ensure that the committees are meeting at least four times per year, as laid out in Article 12 of the Unifor Local 199 ByLaws, the Executive Board has decided to establish “Committee Days” during which the committees will meet at the union hall. During these meetings, the committees will be able to plan upcoming events, discuss topics and initiatives that are of interest to their group, get to know each other, and connect with their Executive Board liaison. The establishment of Committee Days will also give the greater membership and opportunity to attend and get involved with the committees and the local.
The first Committee Day is set for SUNDAY JANUARY 28th
If you are currently on a committee, you are expected to attend this meeting. Also, if are interested in learning more or would like to get involved with the local – join us! All Local 199 Members are welcome!
Committees will meet at the following times:
10:00 AM
Recreation
Education
Environmental/Community Services
Human Rights/BIWOC (Black Indigenous Workers of Colour)
11:00 AM
LGBTQ+
Union in Politics
Women’s
Young Workers
Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
In solidarity,
Jordan Lennox, President
