GM UNIT STRIKE PREPARATION: STRIKE DUTY SIGN UP

GM Unit Strike Preparation: Strike Duty Sign Up

This past Thursday, Unifor informed General Motors that the union had set a negotiating deadline for Monday, October 9 at 11:59 p.m. As the deadline approaches, your Master and Local Bargaining Committees are working hard to reach a fair tentative
agreement that follows the pattern set previously with Ford Motor Company. To ensure that we are prepared for a strike, our strike coordinators have been working to finalize the details needed to begin strike action, if necessary. If a tentative
agreement is not reached by 11:59 pm on October 9th, without an extension put into place, then we will be on strike.

We are asking the membership of Local 199 GM Unit to prepare to be on strike. We hope it will not come to that and instead GM will meet the pattern agreement. Updates will be posted on www.autotalks.ca, our social media pages and
website www.unifor199.org In preparation for this, a sign up for strike duty will take place at the plant:

WHERE:       West (Main) Clockhouse only
WHEN:          Tuesday, October 3rd
TIME(S):       5:30 am-7:30 am & 1:30 pm-3:30 pm

*Members working midnights must sign up in the main lobby before leaving the plant.

The strike duty shifts will start October 10th at 12:01 am. The sign-up sheets will be for all days of the week, Monday through Sunday, with shifts from 6:30AM-2:30PM, 2:30PM-10:30PM, 10:30PM-6:30AM. To sign up, you will need to
provide your name and GMIN. If you are not working on Tuesday, October 3rd, you may email Jessica McCourt uniforlocal199gm@gmail.com  on Wednesday October 4th, by noon with your top 3 shift choices and we will try to accommodate your request.
If you do not sign up or send in a request, you will be assigned a strike duty day and time. You MUST sign up and complete your full 8-hour picket duty shift every week to receive strike pay. Strike pay is $300.00/week or $42.86/day of the dispute. TPT members
are eligible for strike pay.

Important Strike Reminder:  The Bargaining Committees will negotiate right up to the deadline and provide a report to the membership prior to making an announcement to the media. To prepare for a strike, all GM members will be signed
up for picket duty.

Voter Registration:

By now, most members at GM have registered to vote in the upcoming information/ratification process. If you have not registered, do so ASAP. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THERE IS A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT!  The form of ratification meeting has not yet
been determined. More information will be released at a later time. Regardless, ALL voting will take place ONLINE via Simply Voting. This means that if you do not register, you will be unable to cast your vote. All active GM unit members can register here https://forms.gle/Ew6hJks4rGjBdQn89

You will be required to provide your name, GMIN, address and a non-GM email address to register. If you need help registering, contact a union representative ASAP. If you are unsure if your registration was processed properly, contact Vincent Filice. He will verify
your information. 905-658-7781 or vincent.filice@gm.com

Members should continue to monitor www.autotalks.ca for official updates from the union about the status of negotiations.
