GM CHAIR UPDATE – V8 Temporary Layoff Due to Semiconductor Shortage

July 21th, 2021

The Company has informed the Union that it will be laying off all shifts in V8 for the week of July 26, 2021. This means the entire plant will be laid off, except members required to work who will be contacted directly by Management.

This is a direct result of the semi-conductor shortage and its impact on truck production at Fort Wayne, Silao and Arlington.

As a reminder, V6 will continue downtime through the week of July 26 and GF6 Transmission will continue with its extended downtime through the week of August 16, 2021.

I will continue to do everything in my power to mitigate the impact of the semi-conductor shortage on our plant.

Please check the website for updates.
