FirstOntario, COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19: Update

For more than 80 years, FirstOntario has been helping Members get through the good times and the bad and now, as we face the challenges of COVID-19 – we’re going to get through this together.

Announcing new ways we’re helping our Members

FirstOntario Credit Union pledges to work with our Members during these difficult times and we are ready to support you. Members are encouraged to contact their branches to discuss options to help reduce their financial stress due to the impact of COVID-19. Some of the possible support available includes:

  • For our retail Members, we can work with you to defer up to six months of mortgage payments, and/or personal loan payments. Every situation is different so please talk to your branch to explore ways that we can help you.
  • For our business Members, please talk with your account manager and we can provide advice and support on various mortgage and/or loan payment deferral options on a case by case basis.

Ways to Bank at FirstOntario

You don’t have to visit a branch to discuss your options. Connect with our teams through our Member Solutions Centre at 1-800-616-8878 or 905-685-5555 and our Personal Assisted Tellers (PAT). PAT can help you with all the things a teller can do including cashing cheques, deposits, withdrawals, transferring funds and much more.

Our Member Solutions Centre and PAT are available through extended hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to help with your day-to-day banking needs.

We also strongly request that our Members take advantage of FirstOntario’s online and mobile banking services – which are available 24/7 – to do your banking from the comfort and convenience of your home.

Our branches also have ATMs available for your use. For our Members who may not be close to a branch, or even outside of the province, THE EXCHANGE Network gives you access to more than 3,700 ATMs across Canada, free of charge.

Our front line staff continue to be there for you, however we ask that whenever possible, you limit your interactions to phone calls or emails and all the other remote banking options FirstOntario offers our Members.  If you must visit a branch, please do so only if you are in good health and are not experiencing any symptoms. If you have travelled outside of the country or have been in contact with others who have, please call us instead – there’s lots of ways we can help.

Precautionary Measures – Branch Closures and Reductions to Hours of Operation

The health and safety of our Members and employees is a top priority. We are monitoring advice from public health officials very closely, and are responding with changes to our day-to-day operations.

Check FirstOntario’s COVID-19 information page regularly for the latest details about temporary branch closures and reductions in branch hours of operation.

We’re here to help
