Coldest Night of the Year

On February 22nd 2020, members of Local Unifor 199 participated in West Niagara’s Coldest Night of the Year; a fundraiser that helps YWCA fund housing programs and helps the homeless, hungry and hurting in our community. It is a noble cause and has always had successful results every year, with more and more donations than before.

Some statistics of the results of the fundraiser this year includes the following:

1. As of current, the total funds raised or West Niagara is $48,569. Out of the total goal of $50,000 that equals to 97% which is an incredible achievement.

2. Our Unifor Local 199 team had placed 11th in the standings out of 25 teams total. We raised $955 and helped make a meaningful impact in the charity. Well done!

3. The Chili Cook off was a complete success and the winner by judges panel was Maple Crest Village Retire Residence with their smoked pork chili and cute jalapeno cream cheese filled cornbread bites. All other entries were enjoyed as well thoroughly by participants.

Finally, thank you to all that donated, participated and spread the word. This was a success and no doubt that clients using YWCA will feel the impact we had given at this event.

Pictures from the event will be posted
