Building Community Spirit

We started the year with good news, Local 199 members continued to show their support for the community and those who are less fortunate.   Our members raised $13,819 at the Christmas plant gate collection, and $3,386 on Tooney Tuesday.  The United Way also recognised local 199 members for the 60 years of donations. In this period since the Red Feather Campaign started, the United Way has raised over $88 million dollars. Incidentally the largest single workplace donation has come from McKinnons / General Motors St. Catharines Powertrain employees and Unifor Local 199 members.  Collectively they have donated over 29 million dollars. I don’t think anyone can imagine or totally comprehend the amount of good will that has been done in the community through your generosity. Over the years we have helped families when they needed it the most, when they were sick when they lost their jobs and countless other life altering situations.  I am sure this year you will once again open your hearts and wallets to help the community members in need.
