Recreation Committee

The Recreation Committee organizes and promotes a variety of social events for the members of local 199. The committee promotes events sponsored by both the National and Local Union. Events include; golf, bowling, soccer, hockey and bowling tournaments. Other social events scheduled include the Unifor Night with the Ice Dogs & St Catharines Falcons, Children’s Christmas Family Skate, Curling, Bowling, Food Truck Extraveganza and Curling.

Ice Dog & Falcons Tickets

The recreation committee purchases blocks of ticket at a discounted price for the Niagara Ice Dogs games each year, we also arrange several Unifor Nights at the Falcons, check the posts below for the dates, time and ticket prices.

Bowling

Unifor National Recreation Committee organize both 5 and 10 pin bowling qualifying tournaments usually in January & February. Bowlers that qualify can play in the National Bowling Tournament in April, the location of this event changes every year. There are women’s, men’s team events and singles events. When the events are scheduled they will be posted on the website and recreation page. Contact the recreation Committee for more information.

Curling

Unifor members can play in the Unifor Curling Bonspiel held in November in January. The location of this event changes every year. Contact the recreation Committee for more information.

Family Skate

The Recreation committee has booked ice time for a family skate December 27th 2016 @ 11 am. 4 pad in St Catharines. All members their families at all units are encouraged to attend. Hot Chocolate and tim bits will also be available.

Golf

Every year uniform organizes regional qualifying tournament for the National Golf Tournament, members qualify in different handicapped divisions and play in the national tournament which is held at different courses each year. Qualifying tournaments are in May June the national tournament is usually held in August. The Pudgy Dawson Tournament is scheduled for September 11th 2016.
