History: 

This bargaining unit was originally known as McKinnon’s Industries. In 1936, workers at McKinnon’s voted to join the UAW, at which time Local 199 was formed and became the second UAW Local Union in Canada. The first contract was signed in 1937.

Products: 

GM St. Catharines Powertrain Plant manufactures transmissions, V6 and V8 Engines.
