Education Committee Wants You

Elections Called

Did you know that Unifor Local 199 has scheduled an election for the Education Committee, we are currently looking for three members to be on this committee for the next three years.  The committee meets regularly, attends membership meetings, encourages members to attend educational programs and the Education Conference in Port Elgin which is held every two years. The committee has several sources of funding which include; an annual budget for education which is used to run local educational programs, the National Union provides the funding for Local Area Courses and Port Elgin courses, Unifor/GM has a fund to cover the tuition fees for the McMaster Labour Studies Program. Over the past term the committee has helped to run and promote McMaster Labour Studies Program Local Area Schools for Grievance Handling, Collective Bargaining and  Human Rights courses.  The committee has also helped schedule the very successful Planning For Your Future pre retirement course.

This is  a great opportunity for members to get involved with the union, gain valuable experience and meet your fellow members.  The Executive board has two experienced members that will assist and advise this committee.  (Rob Acker and Peter Scott) All the programs are established and running.  All we need is some new and enthusiastic members to take over the committee. If you are interested in more information please contact Peter Scott or Rob Acker,  905-682-2611 x 238.
