Community Cares Says Thank You for $250,000 donation

Bette Lou Souter CEO of Community Care stopped in at the Union Hall for a meeting and to show me her new Chevy Equinox. Members of CAW Local 199 have a long relationship supporting Community Care and the good work they do for the residents of Niagara. Over the past 20 years Local 199 members have donated over $250,000 through plant gate collections.

Community Care is an umbrella organization that oversees a number of important services such as; the distribution of food, clothing, small household articles to residents facing financial challenges. Community Care also offers assistance for emergency prescription expenses, and vision care contingent upon available funds. The Christmas Bureau provides new toys and grocery vouchers. Life Skills training includes Savoury Samplings Program, Community Gardens, and a canning program. Other programs offered by Community care include: the Snacks & Sneakers program which provides backpacks and school supplies and the Jumpstart provides financially disadvantaged children, aged 4-18 years, with the opportunity to participate in sports and recreational activities.
I would like to thank Bette Lou for her tireless roll as an advocate and leader for the Niagara Region; I would also like to thank Bette Lou for purchasing a new North American vehicle and supporting our members.
